VALE CONNIE FEBEY
Long time Metro West and Swimming Victoria Technical Official Connie Febey passed away on the 27th April aged 96
Connie joined Altona Swimming Club in late 60's early 70's when her children began swimming.
She quickly became a Technical Official starting like everyone in those days as a Timekeeper and progressed through all of the positions to become a Referee.
She was referee in charge of metro west for many years and encouraged many people to also become officials with her encouragement and enthusiasm. She continued officiating for nearly 40 years with tireless dedication and enthusiasm and was highly regarded by all the people she trained and worked with. Connie was also a long standing member of the then Referee's committee
Connie was the recipient of the first meritorious award given in 1996.
Connie started officiating at National level in mid 1970's and was very active at national level for over 30 years.
Connie represented Australia as a Technical Official at Pan Pacific championships and officiated at the Paralympics in
Sydney in 2000.
Connie was the inaugural Treasurer of the Officials Guild when it was formed in the Early 80's and worked tirelessly to support the Guild and help raise funds.
When she retired from Officiating Connie wasn't totally lost to the sport as Connie was often seen in the stands supporting her great granddaughter who still swims today.
RIP Connie.
